Dr. Willis, Thank you for your wonderful Substack posts that focus on California but are much broader than that. From the readers' comments over the past year, it is clear that your readers are highly intelligent, many highly educated, and much of the same mind regarding the importance of both public and personal health. I think most people would rather know about emerging health issues as soon as possible with the caveat that things may change as more knowledge is acquired. I think it would also be wonderful if your posts and the excellent comments you receive can be shared with state and federal legislators, regulators, and staff to foster both their own knowledge as well as their motivation to take steps to promote what they learn.
I have just paid my subscription and look forward to another year of YLE CA! ✌️
I love the YLE substacks! Both Katelin’s and your’s, Dr. Willis. I will continue to subscribe. I know I can get honest, scientifically based information from very knowledgeable people. You are both heroes to me.
As an emergency physician, I use YLE and CA YLE to stay informed on emerging public health issues, speaking to patients from an informed position about science and medicine topics that may have misinformation in the lay press/social media and understanding the infectious disease data to help patients make informed decisions. Thanks for all your hard work! Looking forward to another great year of YLE CA!
After watching what has transpired over the week with Dr. Fauci's command performance at yet another Congressional inquisition, it's nice to be brave, as many have encouraged. Yet only as long as you wear your fireproof suit. So, I'm sure all such caveats are de rigueur, even when addressing this community. The internet bleeds out everywhere it seems.
Thank you. I live across the border in Tijuana where our national, state and local governments are engaged in active polarizing, obfuscating and outright lying. You have no idea how valuable YLE CA is to us down here. I am happy to suscribe to both YLE's and am grateful and thankful. Keep up the good work. It's doing good well beyond your borders.
I’m thrilled to receive your posts and will always subscribe ! I close my ears to all the “noise” out there. Katelyn got me through the pandemic! You keep me informed on everything going on in California! Grateful for both of you! Keep the information coming!! YLE and YLECal is the best!! Thank you!
Thank you for trusting that YLE readers can handle uncertainty and for jumping in to new problems early. Unlike other substack posts, I read yours every time.
I'm so thrilled to have found you on Substack! I'm new here and catching up on your year's worth of content. Your warmth and epistemic humility come through in every post and it's an inspiration to see such fantastic content shared with our California community.
Great newsletter, Dr. Willis. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a similar epidemiologist in Oregon and also Washington State that could form an informal consortium and collaborate on a quarterly newsletter regarding national and West Coast PH concerns? We all certainly need reliable fact-based information on a regular basis that bypasses the interests of power brokers.
Congratulations on one year, Dr. Willis! I find your posts so helpful! You and Katelin have become my trusted sources on public health issues! Thank you and please keep up the good work! 🎉
Dr. Willis, I greatly appreciate your efforts and advice. It is a valuable step to make Public Health
transparent to the public. As a retired pediatrician, I look back on how difficult it was for me to
handle vaccine hesitancy. I wish I had had the studies and expertise available now. I routinely
pass on information to family and friends when it is pertinent to them. YLE was very helpful in this regard during the pandemic. Thank you! Erica Buhrmann, MD
As a retired health educator, I mostly now interact casually with family and friends. I have found this subscription to still be worth keeping in my monthly budget. Thanks!
Bravo! Congrats! You've done a great job. Your erudite analysis and advice is much needed in this era of misinformation, cultural distrust, national disdainful and cruel leadership, and preventable public health risks.
Just upgraded my subscription. The YLE California posts are helpful. I live in Los Angeles and recently had two incidents of dead birds in my yard - we are in a West Nile Virus zone. Trying to find the correct resource to report to (and have the birds tested) was confusing! I appreciate what YLE does to keep me informed during this insane times. For Los Angeles I'd like more info on illnesses around large gatherings ie recent Measles at Universal Studios, COVID rise and the start of the LAUSD school year, etc. Thank you!
I so appreciate both your and Katelyn’s writing. Thank you both so very much. In this troubled worrisome time, it is heartening to have your clear caring helpful voices. Looking forward to another year. Thank you both for helping us all through.

Me too, Nina. She was the go to for the straight story on how to manage things!

Yes! I just subscribed. We need you and your expertise! Thank you!
